Be sure to read the Examination Policy in the PDF iconStudent Handbook. Any student whose situation matches one of those for which make-ups are allowed under this policy must initiate a request: obtain a make-up permission card in the Administrative Suite (280 BLB); after receiving the card, take it to the instructor for a signature; return the card to the Administrative Suite.


The College of Law has adopted the SofTest software offered by ExamSoft Worldwide. To purchase, go to Exam Soft's UI Law Page.

Minimum System Requirements:

SofTest can be used on virtually any modern computer (i.e. purchased within the last 3-4 years). Specific system requirements are available here.

It is not possible to take secure exams through a virtual operating system such as Microsoft's Virtual Machine, Parallels or VMware, VMware Fusion or any other virtual operating system environment. Although SofTest can be installed and registered on virtual platforms, it will only be enabled in these settings for non-secure Practice Exams.

These requirements represent the minimum required to run the software for the Laptop Exams. If you would like assistance purchasing a new laptop, the Law Library technology staff can help.
