Dean Agrawal and Professor Gittler were recently named to the Guardianship and Conservatorship Reform Task Force

From Iowa City Press Citizen, February 15, 2015:

As Iowa faces a shortage of legal guardians, two professors at the University of Iowa College of Law have been enlisted by the Iowa Supreme Court to help solve the impending legal crisis.

Gail Agrawal, dean of the College of Law, and Josephine Gittler, a UI professor in the colleges of law, public health and department of pediatrics, were named to the Guardianship and Conservatorship Reform Task Force in January.

Created by the Iowa Supreme Court, the 10-member group is tasked to solve future issues related to legal guardians, people appointed by state court to make personal decisions for those incapable of doing so, and conservators, a person or bank appointed to handle finances of those that “lack the mental capacity or lose that capacity,” to do so, Gittler said.
