Gail B. Agrawal Appointed the inaugural N. William Hines Dean and Professor of Law

The University of Iowa College of Law is pleased to announce the N. William Hines Deanship.

Dean Gail B. Agrawal has been appointed the inaugural N. William Hines Dean and Professor of Law. She, along with N. William Hines, were recognized at the Iowa Inspired campaign closing event on April 7, 2017.

The N. William Hines Professorship was first established in 2003 to pay tribute to the extraordinary contributions of Bill Hines during his 28-year tenure as dean.  In 2007, sufficient funds were received to create an endowed chair.  The Iowa Inspired campaign, helped it reached the level to endow the deanship.  Through a deanship spanning nearly three decades, N. William Hines earned the admiration and affection of many friends of the College of Law, including generations of students and faculty.  Over 150 alumni and friends, came together to make contributions to honor N. William Hines through this fund. Endowed professorships, chairs, and deanships are created through the generosity of a college’s alumni and friends.  They give outstanding faculty and deans much-needed resources to invest in aspirational initiatives that further the success and impact of a college.

Bill Hines and Gail Agrawal receive medallions for Provost Curry to commemorate the N. William Hines Endowed Deanship
