Megan La Suer, 3L
Des Moines, Iowa
Megan La Suer long-intended to follow in her parents’ footsteps by becoming a lawyer.
“Law school has always been on my mind. Growing up, I kind of knew that was what I would do after undergrad,” La Suer says, adding both of her parents are Iowa Law alumni. “When I was in elementary school, I dressed up as a lawyer for Halloween one year. I wore one of my dad’s sport coats and walked around with a brief case to collect candy.”
Now entering her third year at Iowa Law, La Suer is working closely with the alumni association, is a student ambassador, a member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, and proudly attends every home football game. She also studied abroad in Arcachon, France the summer after her first year as part of Iowa Law’s France Summer Abroad Program.
In addition to her legal studies, La Suer is in the process of working on a joint-degree, and will earn her Master’s in Health Administration from the UI along with her J.D. with the intention of specializing in health law upon her graduation in May 2017.
La Suer says she’s looking forward to coming back to Iowa Law as an alumna to see how things have changed. She’s also excited to be able to give back to Iowa Law in the future in hopes of making an impact on future students.
