The Career Services Office is thrilled to welcome Akua Akyea as Assistant Dean of Career Services and Melissa Carrington and Elizabeth Watkins Price as Assistant Directors of Career Services.
Akua Akyea is a member of Iowa Law’s Class of 1997. Since graduating from Iowa Law, she has worked in Career Services as the Director of International and Summer Programs at the Center for Public Interest Law at Columbia Law School and most recently as the Director of Public Interest at Yale Law School.
Melissa Carrington is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law. She clerked for Judge Mark W. Bennett in the Northern District of Iowa and Magistrate Judge David G. Bernthal in the Central District of Illinois. She then worked in the Chicago office of Jackson Lewis P.C., a labor and employment firm. Melissa’s focus will be private sector and clerkship advising.
Elizabeth Watkins Price comes to Iowa City from Ithaca, New York, where she worked as a Staff Attorney for Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York. Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law. Before beginning her legal career, Elizabeth worked as an inner-city school teacher, first with Teach for America in Washington, D.C., and then with the Durham City Schools in North Carolina. Elizabeth's focus will be public interest advising.
