Iowa Law Alumna Lisa Castillo (’15) has been awarded the Burton Distinguished Legal Writing Award for 2016.
The award honors law school students for clear, concise, and comprehensive legal writing and is limited to articles published in law school journals in the prior year. Each school many nominate one article.
Castillo was recognized for an article she published in the Iowa Law Review in 2015 titled “No Child Left Alone: Why Iowa Should Ban Juvenile Solitary Confinement.”
This is the sixth time an Iowa student has received this award since 2001, and the fifth time in the last seven years.
Castillo plans to attend the awards program and Gala, which will be held on May 23rd at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
