Jill Wieber Lens, who holds the Dorothy M. Willie Professor in Excellence, was quoted in a Des Moines Register article examining Iowa’s new law requiring abortion-inducing medications to be dispensed in person. The article explored whether the law may limit access to abortion medication sent via mail from providers in other states.
Lens explained that while the law reflects the Iowa Legislature’s effort to restrict access to abortion medication, it is unlikely to deter physicians practicing in states with shield laws that protect providers who prescribe medication across state lines.
