Technology recommendations for students
Students should have a device that meets the recommendations outlined below and install the required software for electronic examinations and various educational activities. These recommendations are subject to change as the curriculum and technology used in its delivery evolves.
Computing device recommendations
It is recommended that your computer meets or exceeds the following criteria:

| Operating System | 64-Bit Windows 11 or macOS Ventura/Sonoma/Sequoia/Tahoe |
| Processor (CPU) | Intel Core i5 or higher (Windows); Apple M1 or higher (Mac). Chromebooks are incompatible with our exam software and therefore are not a viable option. |
| Memory (RAM) | 16GB or higher |
| Storage (HDD/SSD) | 256GB or higher. You must have at least 20% free space. |
| Wireless Card | Supports 802.11 n/ac protocols and WPA2 Enterprise |
| Resolution (Display) | 1024x768 pixels minimum (scaling set to 100%) |
| Web Camera | An integrated web camera is best, but an external device may be used. |
| Notes | If your current device if over 5 years old, you may consider purchasing a new device to minimize technical issues. |
Software requirements
| Category | Requirements |

| Examplify | Examplify is a required software used to deliver College of Law exams. Students must install and maintain Examplify on their devices for use during exams. Students must pay $35 per calendar year for an Examplify license. |
| Zoom | Zoom is licensed by the University of Iowa to deliver online course content and for virtual meetings. |
