Iowa Law graduate Kara Westercamp (09JD) was nominated by President Donald J. Trump to the U.S. Court of International Trade.

According to Legal Insider and several other national media outlets, Westercamp is currently an associate counsel in the White House and previously served as a U.S. Department of Justice attorney. According to the article, President Trump calls her a  “very experienced Trade Lawyer” who has defended his “America First Agenda."

The position requires U.S. Senate confirmation, and if confirmed, Westercamp would have a lifetime appointment to the nine-judge court, which has nationwide jurisdiction over civil cases arising under U.S. trade laws.
