Anya Prince, the David H. Vernon Professor in Law at the University of Iowa College of Law, and Theresa Eckel, a 3L student and legal research assistant, published a new article, "Genetic information in insurance: Guiding questions for state regulation," in Science.
The article argues that states need clearer, stronger laws to prevent discrimination by life, long-term care, and disability insurers who may use people's genetic data and information. Prince and Eckel propose important questions for lawmakers to consider to create more effective protections.
