Associate professor James Toomey published a trio of new papers this semester that will be featured in forthcoming editions of various law reviews.

The first paper, "Legal Personal Identity," explores how private law relies on a narrative, rather than purely bodily, theory of personal identity. It will be published in the Northwestern University Law Review in 2027.

Toomey’s second paper, “Parents as Liberal Fiduciaries,” discusses the complexities of defining parent-child relationships in the law. It will be published in the Boston College Law Review in 2027.

The third paper, “Dynamic Guardianship,” proposes a “dynamic” guardianship model for cognitive decline, granting guardians authority only when needed. It is set to be published in the Emory Law Journal in 2027.
