Kate Melloy Goettel, clinical associate professor at the University of Iowa College of Law, appeared on Iowa Public Radio’s River to River podcast to discuss the evolution and shifting landscape of habeas corpus, as well as its role in immigration law.

Goettel is the director of the Federal Impact Litigation Clinic, where one of her roles is to train students and attorneys to file habeas corpus petitions on behalf of unlawfully detained immigrants. She spoke with host Ben Kieffer about the background and use of habeas corpus, as well as other developments related to green cards and Iowa’s detention population.
