The U.S. Senate voted 52-46 on Tuesday to confirm Daniel Burrows, a White House official and former chief deputy attorney general of Kansas, to lead the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Legal Policy.

Burrows has been a deputy assistant to the president and deputy staff secretary since January 2025. Before that, he served as chief deputy attorney general in Kansas for two years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The Office of Legal Policy works to craft and execute the DOJ's policy initiatives, reviews regulations, works with the attorney general to recommend candidates for judgeships and coordinates the confirmation process with the White House and Senate, according to the office's website.
