Jill Wieber Lens, who holds the Dorothy M. Willie Professor in Excellence, was featured on an episode of Iowa Public Radio’s podcast River to River to discuss the Supreme Court’s order regarding access to mifepristone in Danco Laboratories v. Louisiana. The decision will allow mifepristone, an abortion medication at the focus of the lawsuit, to remain available via telehealth appointments and mail-order until the lawsuit is resolved.
In the episode, Lens explained that the Supreme Court decision “[paused] what the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals had previously held” until the case reaches the Supreme Court. She also discussed the history of mifepristone restrictions and how it relates to Iowa House File 2788, which requires that mifepristone be prescribed in person.
