Marzieh Tofighi Darian
Marzieh Tofighi Darian joined the University of Iowa College of Law as a Faculty Fellow after serving as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at Princeton University. She earned both her S.J.D. and LL.M. from Harvard Law School. Marzieh’s research focuses on the role of constitutional courts in the Middle East. Her current project examines how constitutional courts and constitutional reasoning operate in deeply divided societies, and the role high courts play in navigating such polarized contexts. She is also developing a book manuscript on Iran’s Guardian Council—a powerful constitutional body charged with both Islamic and constitutional review—and its transformative role in reshaping Iran’s constitutional and political landscape. She will teach Comparative Constitutional Law in the spring semester.
