The National Lawyers Guild holds an annual event called the Week of Abolition (formerly the Week Against Mass Incarceration). Each year, the event is held the first full week of March; this year the WoA falls on March 3, through March 9. There is also a different theme each year highlighting a different issue of criminal justice. The theme this year centers on Political Prisoners.

To highlight the issues of political prisoners, the NLG will be tabling March 4 - March 6, each day presenting a different prisoner highlight and general information for pushing back against imprisonment for political gain.

In addition, as the main event for the WoA, the NLG @ Iowa Law is hosting a panel on Political Prisoners on Thursday, March 7.
