Four Iowa Law students, two UI undergraduates earn Cmiel and Weston scholarships

Professors Ken Cmiel and Burns Weston shared a common passion: building the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights—a unit of the College of Law—into a world-class, cross-disciplinary resource for human rights education, research, and service. Their scholarships are supporting the next generation of human rights advocates.

Iowa Law professor receives NSF grant to bring legal education to computer science courses

Mihailis Diamantis, professor of law and the Ben V. Willie Professor in Excellence, and Rishab Nithyanand, associate professor of computer science receive a $300,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to bring legal education to computer science courses.

Iowa Law students gain rare insight through grand jury simulation

Professor Guernsey wanted to give her students a firsthand encounter with the grand jury process. Collaborating with Richard Barker, the First Assistant to the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, she proposed and successfully implemented an immersive grand jury simulation at Iowa Law.

The University of Iowa College of Law is delighted to announce that Barbara Rodriguez (22JD) is a recipient of the 2024 Skadden Fellowship, marking the first time an Iowa Law graduate has received this esteemed honor. Skadden Fellowships, recognized as the most prestigious and competitive awards for public interest lawyers, grant recipients two years of funding to dedicate themselves to full-time public interest law pursuits.
