The University of Iowa College of Law is the fifth best law school in the country for employment outcomes, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings—highlighting Iowa Law’s strong commitment to student success and post-grad employment.

This reflects Iowa Law’s high rate of graduates who are employed or enrolled in graduate programs ten months after graduation. Overall, Iowa Law placed 32nd in the Best Law School rankings, climbing four spots from its position in 2025.

“These rankings provide an opportunity for us to reflect on the things we really care about and what we aspire to provide for our students,” Dean Todd Pettys said. “When students choose Iowa Law, we want them to know that—from the first day of orientation until the day of their last exams—we're going to set them up for success in the job market, and we’re going to do it better than nearly every other law school in the country. These results show we are prioritizing and fulfilling that high ambition.”

In addition to ranking nationally for employment outcomes, Iowa Law also reported strong bar-passage numbers. “More than 90 percent of our students are passing their bar exams all across the country, and that number continues to grow year over year,” Pettys added. “With the NextGen bar exam coming, we are working to stay ahead of the curve and ensure our students are fully prepared to succeed.”
