Megan Graham, clinical professor and director of the Technology Law Clinic at the University of Iowa College of Law, was featured in a WQAD article reporting on Henry County, Illinois, and its decision to remove its Flock cameras.

Flock cameras are the leading brand of automated license plate readers, and Graham explained how Flock camera photos and questions around who can access the data can be concerning to some people. The Henry County sheriff’s office announced it would discontinue its partnership with Flock Safety due to these data privacy concerns.

Graham’s work in the Technology Law Clinic focuses on the role technology plays in criminal cases and the broader legal system. She has been consulted during other investigative reporting, such as the Minnesota Star Tribune’s article investigating the use of license plate camera footage for immigration purposes.
