Iowa Law School announces faculty appointment for Bethany Berger

The Iowa Law School is pleased to welcome Professor Bethany Berger—one of the nation’s foremost experts in federal Indian Law, widely read scholar of Property Law, and legal historian—to its faculty. Berger will begin her appointment as Alan D. Vestal Professor of Law in August 2024.

Kevin Washburn to conclude his term as College of Law dean

Kevin Washburn, who joined the University of Iowa College of Law as dean in 2018, has announced that he will step down from the position at the end of the year, effective on Dec. 31, 2024. During his tenure as dean, Washburn developed a vision for the College of Law as the “Writing Law School” and helped develop an ambitious new environmental law program known as the Hubbell Environmental Law Initiative.
