Lawyers & Leaders (L&L) programs complement the traditional legal curriculum and are open to all Iowa Law students. Attendance at one L&L event each semester is one requirement for membership in the Pro Bono Society for that semester.

Wednesday, September 17, 12:40 (225 BLB) - Civility Matters

American Board of Trial Advocates members will facilitate this educational and entertaining program aimed at increasing civility and courtesy in the legal profession.

Wednesday, October 22, 12:40 (225 BLB) - Pro Bono Recognition Event

This program will feature remarks by a guest speaker and Iowa Student Bar Association leaders followed by recognition of Spring 2025 Pro Bono Society members and participants in CLP Pro Bono Projects. A reception will follow.

Thursday, October 30, 12:40 (235 BLB) - Obergefell v. Hodges at 10.

Kendra Weston from Lavender Legal Center will discuss the history of the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court decision and the current state of marriage equality.

Thursday, November 13, 12:40 (235 BLB) - Legally Equipped, Career Unlimited: JD Paths off the Traditional Track.

This program will explore alternative legal careers, seeking to highlight women who have gone into academia, started their own practice, engaged in advocacy or consulting, and/or nonprofit work.
