The Iowa Student Bar Association and Citizen Lawyer Program invite you to celebrate the pro bono legal work and service contributions of Iowa Law students, faculty, staff, and alumni in conjunction with the Cady Day of Public Service on Friday, October 17 and the ABA's National Celebration of Pro Bono Oct. 19–25.
We invite you to take part in any or all the following events:
- Blood Drive | Friday, Oct. 17, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the Fourth Floor Student Lounge: Sign up to donate here! Notes for blood donation: Remember to drink plenty of fluids and eat before you donate. Photo ID required. Make sure you are free of cold and flu symptoms for five days. Bring a list of current medications and travel outside of the U.S. in the past three years.
- Food Drive | Monday, Oct. 20–Thursday, Oct. 23 in the BLB Lobby: Donate nonperishable food items to benefit the University of Iowa Food Pantry. A list of needed materials and online donation information can be found here.
- Service Appreciation Treats | Tuesday, Oct. 21, Noon–2:00 p.m. in the BLB lobby: Stop by the Citizen Lawyer Program table in the lobby for a treat as our way of saying "thank you" for your pro bono work and your community and institutional service!
- Video Testimonial Project | Tuesday, Oct. 21 12:30–2:00 p.m. in the BLB Lobby: Stop by the Citizen Lawyer Program table and record a short video about what volunteerism and pro bono work mean to you!
- Pro Bono Recognition Event | Wednesday, Oct. 22, 12:40-1:40 p.m. in 225 BLB (L&L event): Veronica Stafford (JD ’23) and Iowa Student Bar Association leaders will share remarks on the role of lawyers and the importance of public service. We will recognize Spring 2025 Pro Bono Society members and participants in CLP Pro Bono Projects. Join us for a reception after the event! All Iowa Law students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend. This event is designated as a Lawyers & Leaders event; please sign in at the event.
