Adrien Wing, Bessie Dutton Murray Professor of Law and associate dean for international and comparative law programs, was recently honored by the American Society of International Law (ASIL) for her longstanding commitment to international human rights.

At its 120th annual meeting in Washington, D.C., ASIL presented Dean Wing with the Goler T. Butcher Medal, an award given each year for exceptional contributions to the advancement of international human rights.

“I was stunned to receive the Medal,” Dean Wing said. “We regard Professor Butcher as the foremother of women of color in international law. I knew her personally when I was a very young professor. I think that she would be delighted that I have matured over more than 40 years in the academy to be considered worthy for this award in her name.”
