The 2020 Summer Grant Program has now ended and applications will no longer be accepted. Information for the 2021 program will be announced on this page.
The Summer Grant Program is designed to ease the financial burden of University of Iowa law students working in unpaid summer positions. There are several grants available for summer 2020. A student need only submit one Summer Grant Application, and if eligible, will be considered for multiple grants. All applicants must be either current 1L or 2L students in good standing.
The majority of the grants are for students volunteering over the summer for a public interest non-profit organization or government agency (including in judicial chambers). Public interest agencies include IRS Code 501(c)(3) entities, government agencies, and advocacy groups. Some funds are also available to support the cost of students attending a summer study abroad program or for students who pursue unpaid internships related to the mission of the Iowa Innovation, Business & Law Center.
