The University of Iowa launched the 'Together Hawkeyes' campaign in 2023 to support faculty and student excellence across campus. This ambitious and innovative campaign aims to advance our world-class education and strengthen the Hawkeye community.

College of Law Initiatives

The University of Iowa College of Law has been training excellent lawyers for Iowa and the nation since 1865. Our core competencies have remained steady—we continue to invest in a strong faculty and talented students. Funds raised during this campaign will change lives and ensure a bright future for Iowa Law's people and programs.

Writing Law School

At the forefront of legal education innovation, the Writing Law School initiative embodies a commitment to excellence in written advocacy and scholarly discourse. Four student-edited journals serve as the core of legal scholarship, empowering students to publish nationally recognized scholarship across diverse legal domains. Contributions will help endow the Writing and Academic Success Center providing crucial resources such as a dedicated faculty director, student tutor fellowships, and endowed professorships for the esteemed Legal Analysis Writing and Research faculty. By investing in this initiative through Together Hawkeyes, support is given not just to academic endeavors, but to shaping the future of legal practice and advocacy.

Faculty Support

Our faculty members are the backbone of Iowa Law, driving excellence in teaching, scholarship, and mentorship. Through the Faculty initiative, we aim to bolster our esteemed faculty's ranks, ensuring that they have the support and recognition they deserve. Attracting and retaining top-tier faculty members is essential to maintaining the College of Law's academic eminence. With support, we aspire to expand the number of named faculty positions through the addition of faculty fellowships. These fellowships will not only attract aspiring legal academics to Iowa Law but also provide them with the resources and mentorship needed to develop their scholarship and teaching.

Student Success

At Iowa Law, we are committed to supporting the next generation of legal professionals and leaders. Our annual Bridge Program serves as a bridge to opportunity, bringing prospective law students from historically underrepresented groups to Iowa City. The diverse array of student organizations empowers students to engage deeply with their interests, build networks, and hone their leadership skills. By providing scholarships, we ensure that Iowa Law remains accessible to top-tier students from various backgrounds. These scholarships not only support our students financially but also cultivate a collaborative culture, bringing together individuals from around the world to grow as advocates and problem-solvers. Our experiential learning initiatives allow students to deepen their understanding of the law, engage in public service, and explore legal systems on a global scale.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

At the College of Law, we recognize that nurturing the mental health and wellbeing of our students is paramount in preparing them for the rigors of legal practice and beyond. In response to the growing need for mental health support, we have added an embedded staff therapist dedicated to providing psychological services and outreach. This vital role contributes to fostering a culture of wellbeing, success, and inclusivity within our learning community. By investing in dedicated mental health professionals, we prioritize proactive care and support throughout our students' educational journey. From stress management workshops to tailored bar preparation programs, we empower students with essential tools and resources to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
