Iowa Law Professor Joseph Yockey, who holds the F. Arnold Daum Chair in Corporate Law, and Professor Diane Lourdes Dick, the Charles E. Floete Distinguished Professor of Law, recently attended two conferences in Chicago and Boston, where they shared their articles and participated in a workshop.

Yockey and Lourdes Dick attended the 2025 Chicago-Harvard-Wharton Insolvency & Restructuring Conference on Sept. 12, hosted by the University of Chicago Law School. During the Non-Corporate Debtors session, they presented their co-authored article, College Closure Law, on legal reforms for addressing colleges at risk of insolvency.

During the Bankruptcy Theory session, Lourdes Dick also presented her solo paper, The Redemptive Grammar of Chapter 11, which analyzes and makes visible the moral architecture embedded in modern reorganization practice.

They then traveled to Boston to participate as invited commentators in the 2025 Harvard A(G)I Workshop on Sept. 13. The workshop brought together experts in technology, law, and policy to discuss the growing impact of artificial intelligence. The Harvard Law AI Student Association, the Harvard AI Safety Student Team, and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society organized the event.

Yockey is a leading professor of corporate law and AI, and Lourdes Dick is a renowned author of business and tax law. They recently presented another forthcoming co-authored article, Governing Toxic Data, at the Law and Society Association’s Annual Meeting in Chicago and at the Governing Data symposium at Yale Law School.
