When Dane Beaulieu graduated from college, he knew he wanted to go to law school to study Indian Law, the field that regulates the complex legal relationships between Native American nations, the United States, and the states. As he checked out law schools looking for a good program, he came upon the University of Iowa Law School.

The DEI Awards were established to acknowledge the significant contributions of students, faculty, and staff who have played a pivotal role in advancing diversity and inclusion at Iowa Law. The awards committee also sought out those who have demonstrated their commitment by introducing innovative programs or initiatives that enhance diversity and inclusion within the college. 

This past year was yet another one of listening and learning in our efforts to improve diversity and inclusion at Iowa Law. Tactics included launching new programs and courses and celebrating and recognizing our students, faculty, and staff.

The Alumni DEI Council was established to help promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. The council is open to all and focuses on mentorship and student retention. Recently, women from the group shared their thoughts on mentorship, role models and advice for women entering the field of law.
