Faculty Fellowship program sees early success after its relaunch in 2020

Iowa Law has successfully hired two fellows over the past two years and is in the process of hiring a third fellow to join the faculty in fall 2022. The program provides scholars and teachers with mentoring and career development with the goal of increasing diversity in the legal profession.

Al Herz feels that Iowa has prepared her for a vast range of career possibilities. “I'm prepared for an international career. But I also feel like if I go out into the world and realize that I miss Iowa, I am also aware of the rural practices. I’m prepared for a big law career, while at the same time I feel like I’m prepared to work at a small practice in Iowa or a public organization.”

The Center for Human Rights and its collegiate home, the College of Law, recently hosted the first in-person foreign delegation to visit the University of Iowa since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
