Maggie May Lee grew up in Canada and spent her high school and college years exploring parts of the U.S. She landed at Iowa Law, discovered her passion for corporate law and will head to the Northeast this summer for a position with Phillips Lytle.

Iowa Law’s DEI committee piloted a new program last week called Across the Aisle. The program seeks to bridge divides and bring people with different perspectives into conversation with each other.

Iowa Law alum Bryan Porter (20JD) shares his love of writing and his childhood dream to become a lawyer. Bryan published his first book in 2020 and is currently an attorney at the Rock Island County State's Attorney's Office.

In December, the Iowa Law School Foundation (ILSF) elected four new members. The group looks forward to working with Winnie Uluocha, Renee Dotson, Andy Andersen, and Bill Smith.

Iowa Law has successfully hired two fellows over the past two years and is in the process of hiring a third fellow to join the faculty in fall 2022. The program provides scholars and teachers with mentoring and career development with the goal of increasing diversity in the legal profession.

Between its location in the heart of the Midwest, the school’s emphasis on writing, and the engaged and supportive alumni network, 2L student Kabi Palaniappan knew Iowa was the best place for him.

The initiative will generate opportunities for the University of Iowa College of Law to deepen and broaden its engagement with environmental issues in Iowa and across the nation. In time, this initiative will develop and strengthen the legal environmental community in the state of Iowa. One of the goals of the initiative is to create and increase dialogue that will contribute actionable solutions to environmental problems.
